With big guns like Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, not so active in the musical world this year, there are some names that still kept the wheel rolling.
With the already gone first half of the year, 2020, we the decides to make a thorough rundown on all EPs released this year so far and we handpicked the best 10.
We made sure viable yardsticks were put in place to enable efficient measurement of the penetration in the music scene and general acceptability of the respective projects.
The EP below are arranged according to their level of hit-ness;
Olamide 9 tracks EP titled “999” released on the 9th of February 2020 is our number 1 entry of this listicles.
The EP which has been Making mad wave since release remains one of the major hit EP projects released this 2020.
With amazing tracks like Wonma, Warlord, Billion Talk alongside his son Milliamno among other amazing tracks.
Our No.2 spot is occupied by the uber-talented Nigerian artist, Bella Shmurda with his well-performed EP project called “High Tension” EP.
Bella Shmurda’s debut body of work, “High Tension” EP was complied with 7-tracks and features YBNL Nation Boss, Olamide.
Off the EP is the amazing track “Sho Mo Mi” which became an anthem on the street due to its general acceptability.
Rodolites!!! We made it to the 3rd position of this listicles. The storytelling spitter, Davolee‘s debut EP, Festival Bar is the writer’s favourite EP this year so far.
No cap, Davolee‘s EP is unarguably the best rap EP released so far this year – I dey my office come and beat me
Incase you still doubting the Rodolite messiah’s talent, kindly check out the Festival Bar 3 and your claim will start bending.
Another worthy EP on this list is the Starboy Ent protege, Terri’s EP dubbed “Afro Series” a pure Afrobeat inclined project, I must say
After a long hiatus in the scene, Terri plunges back to the radar with “Ojoro” a bouncy tune off the Afro Series EP – Even the Oga Pata Pata Wizkid can’t resist the heat.
Without too many contemplations, Terri’s Afro Series is a good entry for this position.
Without lies, we can all agree that 3 of the 5 tracks on this EP titled “Road To CDK” are certified bangers.
However, all tracks except “Shomo” was earlier released as a stand-alone single before they’re all compiled to form an EP.
As we await the Casablance De Katamatophia album from the ZANKU frontier, we should vibe to this EP.
Talking about a well-composed produced and enjoyable project released so far this year, then we should be talking about Oxlade‘s 6 tracks EP titled “Oxygen”
The EP “Oxygen” combines Afrobeat, Hip-Hop, R&B and Country influences with Oxlade’s distinctive, soulful vocals and mesmerising songwriting and storytelling to create a project that is undeniably a modern classic in the making.
Worthy to be this list is a coronavirus inspired playlist from sensational Nigerian singer Teni and DJ Neptune titled “The Quarantine Playlist”
Teni who is known for releasing classics was very creative in making sweet dogs from the Coronavirus inspired lockdown.
Featuring DJ Neptune on the playlist Teni’s quarantine playlist is a project with four tacks.
MixNaija Ent frontline act, T-Classic also made it on our EP list with his debut EP titled “Underrated“
The EP enlists 4 amazing solo tracks where T-Classic shows off his dynamism and expertise when it comes to curating good songs.
On the biggest track off the EP titled “Where You Dey” the act employs the service of the DMW boys, Peruzzi and Mayorkun, making the only featured act on the EP.
Actually this EP is not really an actual project but a compilation of different remixes of Mayorkun‘s viral Geng song.
The DMW Protege went all way out even despite the pandemic to curate this amazing remixes featuring Vector, M.I, Sinzu on the Naija remixes.
He has Ms Banks and Russ on the UK remixes and Kwesi Arthur, Riky Rick, Rayvanny and Innoss B on its Africa remix.
Bodeblaq‘s Isokuso EP doesn’t in totality sounds like the title of it, cause at first we sensed it to be an EP filled with Obscenity and Vulgar lyrics.
On this EP, the rapper solidifies his existence in the rap culture as he flows eccentrically on many foreign tunes Instrumentals.
