See How Tribalism In Africa Gave Birth To Global Racism Against Africans

To be honest, I’ve never thought of this before. In fact, a tweet over Oprah Winfrey interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, motivated and inspired me to write on this.

Africans and hypocrisy are 5&6 but ain’t gonna talk about that in this article. The subject matter, is the origin of Racism against Africans today.

CASE STUDY: Prince Harry & Peter Okoye).

Let me start with Prince Harry.?????

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, KCVO, ADC is a member of the British royal family. As the younger son of Charles, Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales, he is sixth in the line of succession to the British throne.

In June 2016, Prince Harry began a relationship with American actress Meghan Markle. A lot of pejorative and false comments were made about Meghan by mainstream media and Internet trolls.

In September 2017, Prince Harry and Meghan appeared together in public at the Invictus Games in Toronto.

Their engagement was announced on 27 November 2017 by Harry’s father Charles, Prince of Wales. The announcement prompted generally negative comments about having a mixed-race person as a member of the royal family, especially in regard to Commonwealth countries with populations of blended or native ancestry.

On 19 May 2018, the public marriage ceremony was held at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, while the private ceremony occurred three days before on 16 May in their backyard with the Archbishop of Canterbury serving as the marriage officiant.

Apparently, their marriage wasn’t 100% supported by the British royal family and the Queen. To save the marriage, Prince Harry, had to give up almost everything, stood firm by his wife Meghan.

Okay…couple of hours ago, Oprah Winfrey interviews Meghan Markle, Prince Harry. The most disturbing parts of the interview centered on how they were unfairly treated by members of the royal family and that alone got the world talking right now.

While all these are happening, Africans (Nigerians in particular), myself, supported Prince Harry. We applauded him for exiting the palace just to be with Meghan.

Now let’s relate Prince Harry’s case with that of Peter Okoye of P-SQUARE.

P-Square is a music duo consisting of the twin brothers, Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye. They were the best selling music duo in Nigeria and Africa, and of course, the richest Artistes.

According to Wiki, they produced and released their albums through Square Records. In December 2011, they signed a record deal with Akon’s Konvict Muzik label. In May 2012, P-Square signed a record distribution deal with Universal Music Group.

On 25 September 2017, numerous media outlets reported that the group disbanded. Reports about a breakup surfaced after Peter reportedly sent a termination letter to the group’s lawyer. Prior to this report, the duo disbanded in 2016, supposedly over a disagreement about the role of their manager.

It was later revealed by Peter that lack of respect for his wife Lola, is the reason why he left P-Square to start from square one (as Upcoming Artiste) and of course to stand by his wife and kids

Guess what? Same Nigerians applauding and glorifying Prince Harry right now, insulted, mocked and crucified Peter Okoye..till date. Asking him to return back to P-SQUARE, reconcile with his twin brother Paul.

C’mon guys Peter is a grown ass man, you don’t tell him what to do. He knows what’s best for him! Same thing that made Harry to give everything he stands for, is equally what made Peter to exit P-SQUARE and part ways with his twin brother. Don’t you think so?

You don’t disrespect my wife and expect me to keep mute because we are family? No way!

They said Peter’s wife Lola is older. Prince Harry’s wife Meghan is older as well. Harry is 36, while Meghan is 39.
