Wizkid Is Not Helping Starboy Terri’s Career At All – Is It Time For Him To Leave?

Posted by E.L.E.X on July 02 2021 under Celebrities

Even Starboy Wizkid himself at some point had to cut ties with the people who made him.

It’s almost inevitable that a time will come when an artist will have to exit the record label that gave him his first spotlight.

Some artists are lucky enough to have had successful careers, made names for themselves, and maybe even racked a couple of millions in.

The majority are unlucky though. They usually leave after a rift, or after both parties have come to a conclusion that they are no longer benefiting from the arrangement. In some cases, these issues are usually settled in court.

How Wizkid Left Banky W’s EME In 2014

When Wizkid founded the Starboy Entertainment outfit in 2013, it was because at that time he was ready to leave his former label, the Banky W-led Empire Mates Entertainment, and be on his own. At that stage, he was big enough to do what he liked.

There was a misunderstanding, a little rift, but it was settled. All Wizkid had to do was do one last album for EME. He released his sophomore album, “Ayo” in 2014.

It was his last project under Banky W’s label. After “Ayo,” he left and started taking his own label seriously.

The Rise Of Starboy Entertainment

After his second album and his EME exit, he officially launched his brand and record label and sought to establish Starboy as a proper record label around 2014. It was around that time he signed L.A.X.

He (Wizkid) ran the label alongside The Ghanaian duo, R2bees, who were also affiliated with the outfit around that time. By 2016, more artists have been affiliated with the label, including Mr. Eazi whom Wizkid co-signed.

It wasn’t until later that we got to know that he didn’t exactly have any deal with the record label.

The L.A.X deal had also fallen through as Wizkid didn’t have enough time to pay attention to the guy. He left too.

Emergence Of Starboy Terri

Then in December 2017, Terri happened.

Wizkid discovered the youngster on Instagram and decided to give him a record deal. This was after his international stint of 2017 with Sony Music. Before long, they’ve put pen to paper and signed a deal.

Terri was then featured on the smash hit, “Soco” released in 2018. He started dropping singles later on.

His first official project, however, came in May 2020. The EP, called “Afroseries” was heavily promoted by Wizkid FC and was one of the best releases of the first half of 2020.

But as more artists started releasing more projects late into 2020, Terri was overshadowed and not even Wizkid could save him.

Wizkid Is Not Paying Enough Attention To Terri

Wizkid is Africa’s biggest star at the moment, so it’s normal that this man is busy and doesn’t have any time to manage someone else. But what about his team? Why does it look like they’re neglecting Terri?

Since “Made in Lagos” was released last October, Terri hasn’t released anything worthwhile.

His last release, “Money” with Bella Shmurda is a very bad song and I have no idea who said it’s okay to release something like that.

It’s now evident that Wizkid doesn’t have time for Terri anymore.

In my opinion, I think Terri should leave and move on. Maybe Starboy isn’t the best place for him right now.
