Out of all the first set of YBNL artistes, Adekunle Gold seems to be the biggest right now. WHY??
It’s surprising how Adekunle Gold has been able to hold on to a huge platform given to him by Olamide and YBNL to grow even more.
Adekunle Gold became a household name in the music industry in 2015 after the release of his smashing hit single, “Sade“.
The song was a big highlife jam that made everyone fell in love with his sound.
The release of “Orente” and “Pick Up” after “Sade” cemented Adekunle Gold‘s name in the heart of many music lovers.
He became recognized nationwide as much as Lil Kesh, Viktoh, Chinko Ekun, and other artistes on the label at that time.
Adekunle Gold alongside his peers at YBNL had a contract expiration in 2016 which necessitated their exit from the label.
While Lil Kesh went to float YAGI Records, Adekunle Gold established 79th Element Music Band.
It’s been 5 years now that Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Viktoh, Chinko Ekun left YBNL to face the highly competitive music industry on their own.
From the look of things, Adekunle Gold has gone way passed his former record label mates and it’s a question of what has he been doing right that others are not?
With the release of his new album, “Afro Pop Vol 1“, Adekunle Gold seems to be aiming even higher and if he continues like this, he might end up becoming an Afro-Pop legend in Nigeria’s music industry.
Is he just lucky to have blown this big? I doubt it and that’s why I would love to throw this question to all ye music lovers
