Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has said the US SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched into space flew over Nigeria’s airspace on its way to Space Station.

Revealing this via Twitter on Monday night, he wrote, “SpaceX just flew over Nigeria on its way to the Space Station. Future Aviation coming closer!”

The PUNCH reports that the rocket piloted by veteran NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley aboard blasted off on Saturday and entered the International Space Station on Sunday after a landmark 19-hour journey.

It was the first crewed flight from US soil since the space shuttle program ended in 2011.

The arrival completed the first leg of the trip, designed to test the capabilities of the Crew Dragon capsule. But the mission would only be declared a success when the astronauts return safely to Earth in a few months’ time.
