Arsenal have been told they will have to pay a fee in the region of £17.2million to sign Christopher Nkunku from Paris Saint Germain.
Gunners head coach Unai Emery is driving the club’s interest in the versatile 21-year-old, having brought him through the youth ranks during his time in charge of the Ligue 1 champions.
Nkunku’s current deal expires in 2020 and PSG are believed to have indicated a willingness to let him leave if he continues to refuse to sign a new contract and their 20 million euros asking price is met.
Arsenal tried to sign Nkunku, who has been used as both a central midfielder and a winger, on loan in January but PSG preferred a permanent sale.
The Gunners opted to bring in Denis Suarez from Barcelona instead but that loan deal has been a huge disappointment.
