WAR!!! Arsenal & FIFA Head To Court Over This Issue

Arsenal and FIFA are heading for a legal battle at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after the Premier League side were fined for clauses inserted in players’ contracts when they were sold.

The world football governing body imposed a Β£33,000 fine, but the Gunners have chosen to appeal and the case will be heard on Tuesday, March 16, according to the UK Sun.

FIFA has deemed sell-on clauses in contracts as equal to third party ownership.

Arsenal sold Chuba Akpom to PAOK and Joel Campbell to Frosinone in 2018, with sell-on clauses in both their new contracts.

They would receive 30% of any future Akpom transfer from PAOK, unless it was to a British club when it would rise to 40%.

The same clause was in Campbell’s contract, but it was 20% rising to 30%.

While the Premier League and FA do not think that any rules have been broken, FIFA disagree and CAS will now decide on the matter next week.

Campbell currently plays for Leon in Mexico, while Akpom has returned to Britainto sign for Middlesbrough in 2020 for Β£2.75m, of which Arsenal could claim 40%.
