When it comes to dropping an album, it takes a naturally talented artiste to get it right the first time.

There are so many flop debut albums, while some debut albums are great and of course, some are just there, not so good and not so bad.

In the spirit of throwback Thursday, we will be examining some super dope debut albums to see which one is actually the best.

Wande Coal’s Mushin To Mohits

There was a period when Pop music started to emerge proper in Nigeria. But this time, it was sprinkled with a bit of afrobeat elements to form Afropop.

It started with Wande Coal’s Mushin To MoHits, perhaps one of the best albums Don Jazzy has ever produced.

The album is Laden with hits like Bumper To Bumper, the popular love ballad, Ololufe and it also contained that collaboration with D’banj, “You bad“.

It wasn’t surprising he later won Artiste and Album of the year at The Headies.

Wizkid’s Superstar

A year later, WizKid would later emerge with Superstar. This time, Superstar had a differential.

The beats were soothing, meaningful lyrics and it was multi-dimensional.

Pakurumo“, “Love My Baby“, “Tease Me” would later go on to be hits.

Fireboy’s Laughter, Tears And Goosebumps

And then last year, Fireboy dropped one of the best debut albums we’ve ever had in history.

Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps. Syrup-sweet, Melodic singles which resonated with your heart.

Storytelling was at its best and it’s no surprise it’s one of the top 10 albums on some streaming platforms.

We’ve all listened to these three epic albums, but which would you categorize as the best debut album you’ve listened to in terms of production, storytelling and impact?
