The Rise, Peak, And The Decline Of A Talent (Iyanya)

What is it about artistes who rise to limelight and just vanish mysteriously?

Artistes who fail to give a good follow up just few weeks after the release of a hit will be automatically swept out.

Unless he or she has something else to offer the mass so as to remain in the news or trends.

Go hard or you go home. It’s so cold out here no one is joking here!

Today, we take a close look at the sensational, Trend maker, and controversial artiste who rose to limelight after he was announced the winner of the 2008 edition of the MTN Project Fame.

Iyanya

The Rise

The 2008 MTN-sponsored Project Fame competition was the beginning of Iyanya’s musical career. Unlike many people who dwindle after a major competition, Iyanya’s success had just begun.

After winning MTN’s Project Fame West Africa, Iyanya began recording his debut album My Story. It was released by CN Media Imprint.

The album showed Iyanya’s versatility as an R&B artist, particularly on the self-titled track “Iyanya” and “Love Truly”. With just a hit “Kukere” the brand Iyanya became an anthem and started writing his name on all charts in the industry.

He really shocked the industry.

The Peak

During the period he was enjoying the fame he got from Kukere, Iyanya co-founded a record label called Made Men Music Group.

He released his debut studio album “My Story” in 2011. He won the artiste of the year award at The Headies awards 2013.

On 16 October 2013, 360Nobs reported that Iyanya became an ambassador for Solo Phones Nigeria, in a deal worth 35million Naira and a brand new Toyota Prado.

In 2013, Iyanya also signed a one-year deal with Zinox worth $300,000. He had quite a lot of international performances.

Iyanya serenaded Grammy Award nominee Melanie Fiona at the LTB Jean store in Soho, New York, and performed at the world-renowned New York Fashion Week

The discography of Iyanya consists of two studio albums, twenty two singles (including ten as featured artist), five promotional, singles and fourteen musical video.

The Decline

In an interview he had with Toolz he said he wanted to switch from R&B to Afrobeats. That seems like a negative move for him.

He ran completely out of content after he sang gift with Iyanya. Iyanya’s debut album was a commercial failure due to problems with distribution and promotion.

Could He Be Out Of Content?

In October 2016, Iyanya announced via Instagram that he signed a record deal with Marvin’s Records after signing a management deal with Temple Management Company months before he failed while fully there with just one or two tracks to his name.

He first announced his intentions to leave Made Man Music Group in July 2016.

Mysteriously, the Brand/Name Iyanya sank without much to write about.

There was absolutely no news or info about him last year until his dirty fight with former associate Ubi Franklin and when he released a track titled “Ijeoma“.

He was however reported to be a cast in BBNaija’s Diane latest movie as well

Earlier today, He was reported to be arraigned in court for allegedly stealing a car

Whatever might be going on with him, We here at Naijaloaded wish him all the best in whatever he lays his hands on.

What Do You Think Is Wrong With Him?

Could He Be Finding It Hard To Adapt To New Trends?
