Soldiers were pelted with stones and bottles at Lekki toll gate - Brigadier-General AI Taiwo (video)

Brigadier-General AI Taiwo who testified before the Lagos judicial panel today November 14, shared the Nigerian army's account of the shooting at Lekki Toll Gate on October 20. 

 

The army official who confirmed that soldiers moved towards Lekki axis after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu invited the Nigerian army to intervene in the crisis which he claimed had degenerated to violence, stated that the military operatives met the police trying to stop some people from setting Oriental Hotel which was nearby on fire upon arriving the scene. 

 

The Commander 81 of Military Intelligence Brigade alleged that soldiers were pelted with stones and bottles, and further maintained that the army leader who was on ground told the soldiers not to shoot at the protesters in spite of the provocation.
