Soldiers, Police, barricade Sahara Reporters office in Lagos

The office of SaharaReporters, an online platform, in Lagos state has been barricaded by men of the Nigeria Police Force as well as soldiers.

 

Members of staff of the media outlet arrived for work this morning but were denied acccess. A Police van is currently stationed in front of the office. The security reportedly arrived the premises at about 7am and called on everyone inside to come out immediately.

 

This development comes less than two months after Omoyele Sowore, owner of the media outlet, was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS), over a nationwide protest tagged ''RevolutionNow, he was planning. He was arraigned in court and detained subsequently on grounds he was plotting to overthrow the government of President Buhari.
