Should Nigerian Artistes Release Songs During This Period? – Here’s Our Answer

Posted by E.L.E.X on March 31 2020 under Celebrities

CoronaVirus has badly affected the music industry, vibes are really low everywhere ????

Artistes too have to obey instructions and stay at home meaning studio sessions might have to be done at home by the artiste alone.

Concerts have been canceled meaning there will be a reduction in the paychecks artists will be receiving.

But should artistes carry on with releasing music?

An average listener will refer to the way American artists have been releasing music.

The Weeknd who dropped his album a week ago has garnered over a billion streams and it seems music consumption is at the highest at this period.

Music streaming apps like Apple Music and Spotify have recorded a surge in streams as people are being forced to stay at home.

But this is the truth.

Apple Music subscribers in Nigeria aren’t even up to 100,000 subscribers. Spotify isn’t in Nigeria, you have to bypass with a VPN.

The music sphere is kind of different here compared to the US and The UK.

The Ugly facts

1. Vibes are low, you mostly want to listen to popular music at this period, that is, songs which everyone is fxcking with and listening to.

2. Everyone is kinda bored and if your music isn’t one that will uplift their soul or will be relatable at this point, just keep it till this period is over.

3. The playlist factor:- Most people are plugging to playlist in search of soul-soothing and syrup sweet music. And it’s the popular playlists people are listening to.

We want the best for Artistes but to be truthful, if your music isn’t relatable and can lift spirits and also match the criteria to be included in playlists, please calm down and wait for this period to be over before you drop.

The main point is to get your content to be noticed.
