African music, these days, has really gone from local to global and we love to see it!

From Afrobeats to indigenous hip-hop, to South African house, or Amapiano, it doesn’t really matter what genre really.

What matters is the fact that music out of Africa is doing numbers overseas and our artistes are cashing out. Isn’t that what this is all about?

This week, here are the top 10 songs across streaming platforms and radio all over Africa.

Spoiler: the list is dominated by Nigerians.

1. Wizkid – Essence ft. Tems

Okay, you probably could guess this one if you were asked to.

This song, which is a single from Wizkid‘s acclaimed “Made In Lagos” LP, got a music video last month and the numbers have been crazy since then.

Last year, this song was even on President Barrack Obama’s annual playlist. Mad jam!

2. Olamide – Rock

Released one week ago, “Rock” is the first single from Olamide‘s forthcoming ninth studio album, “UY Scuti.”

Only makes sense that it’s one of the hottest jams on the air right now, Olamide is a beast.

3. Burna Boy – Kilometre

Weeks ago, Burna Boy returned with a new single, which could also signify the coming of a new album.

Kilometre” is getting heavy airplay and the streaming numbers are impressive. As it should be.

After all, Burna did win a Grammy two months ago.

4. Blxckie – Sika

Blxckie is a South African rapper who is one of the hottest new kids on the block.

He just released his debut album and from it comes this Amapiano jam, “Sika.” It’s an actual bop, if you ask me.

5. Shekhina – Questions

Anyone familiar with the music scene in SA would definitely know who Shekhinah is.

She recently released an album, Trouble In Paradise and this single “Questions” which is just getting popular is from the album.

6. Peruzzi – Somebody Baby

This is definitely the biggest song from Peruzzi‘s latest studio album, Rum & Boogie.

The song which features Davido was released as a single before the album release and it’s massive on the airwaves.

7. King Promise – Slow Down

King Promise is a high-profile Ghanaian singer and is a certified hitmaker.

About a week ago, he released “Slow Down” and it’s trending on Ghana Youtube, and everywhere!

8. Adekunle Gold – It Is What It Is

Adekunle Gold officially came back weeks ago, with this banging new single.

On “It Is What It Is,” AG Baby talked about some real-life issues and it’s true, maybe the old Adekunle is really back!

9. BlaqBonez – Bling

Blaqbonez has been on top of the charts since he released this song and followed with his studio album, “Sex Over Love” last month.

Bling” on its own is a catchy tune that features Buju and Ghanaian singer, Amaarae. It’s a cool jam. Worth every hype.

10. Sarkodie – No Fugazy

No Fugazy” is the one-month-old Sarkodie single that’s hot on the streets of Ghana. Online, it’s doing well too and it’s trending.
