– The Real Madrid striker has been voted La Liga’s best player of the season by fans

– Benzema edges Lionel Messi at the poll despite the Argentine winning the Pichichi with 25 goals

Karim Benzema has been voted the best player of the just concluded La Liga season according to fans as the Frenchman scored 21 goals to help Real Madrid win their first title in three years.

And the Frenchman picked up 37% of the vote compared to Messi’s 31% despite that the Argentine the season with the Pichichi trophy after his 25 goals, while he also registered 21 assists.

Those 21 assists broke a La Liga record which had previously been set by former teammate Xavi.
