Did you know that the potential winner of BBNaija season 5 Laycon is suffering from Sickle Cell? His genotype is SC according to him. Yesterday he told fellow housemates he’s a carrier of sickle cell.

I hope this is not for sympathy votes. Because stuff like this is too expensive to joke with.

What Is Genotype SC That Laycon Has?

SC genotype is seen in persons who have inherited the gene for hemoglobin S from one parent and the gene for hemoglobin C from the other.

Hemoglobin SC disease, is a type of sickle cell disease and the second most common after SS, which means it affects the shape of the red blood cells .

Red blood cells contain a protein called hemoglobin, which is responsible for carrying blood throughout the body. And in most cases, people suffering from such doesn’t last more than the age of 50.

Some hours ago, while housemates disclosed what their blood group was, Laycon said he does not like to reveal his genotype because when he does people think he is sick.

He went on to disclose to Dorathy and Vee in a conversation that he is sickle cell anemic.
