In the past few days, the argiment that stormed the social media is about the late Dagrin and Olamide.

Many people have aired their opinion on the issue, while many agree that Olamide wouldn’t be successful if Dagrin was alive, many people disagreed.

I have come with my own personal opinion about the issue and I want us to reason along.

My own opinion is Dagrin’s death is a pace setter. Many of these rappers including Olamide would be in English rap if not for Dagrin’s death.

Reminisce wasn’t so much in local rap until the death. Dagrin paved ways for them.

And I’m with the conclusion that Olamide wouldn’t blow if Dagrin was around, because when he died, his glory blew more which made the likes of Olamide to follow his trend.

Even all those upcomings like Oladips started with English rap. Dagrin’s death opened their eyes that the legacy could be continued.

Olamide has achieved more but that’s not the point.

Just like how Wizkid has achieved more than 2baba doesn’t make Wiz a better legend. Some are pacesetters and pathfinders.

Dagrin is the legend of all local rappers.

Don’t get it twisted. Dagrin didn’t become a legend because he died.

He is a legend because he tried what others have not tried and succeeded.

He might not even become a legend if he had not died.

But seeing Olamide, Reminisce and others following his footsteps and succeed even makes Dagrin more legendary.

It is not only in music, whoever started something that is later acceptable widely is automatically a legend. The pioneers.

Imagine Ruggedman whose rap was not up to standard (No disrespect) is also a legend.

Why? because he was part of the starters, the pioneers. I want you to believe Ruggedy wouldn’t blow in this generation with his type or raps.
