The music journey of the 22yr old Lyta hasn’t been an easy one. Starting with his exit from YBNL which surfaced after Olamide unfollowed him on Instagram.
In May 2019, Lyta officially confirmed his exit from YNBL Nation. He Narrated how he get paid between 50,000 and 80,000 for shows, that he never had a written contract with the label. An interview that got him more fame and love in the music/entertainment industry.
Some days later Lyta’s interview, Olamide issued a statement to Guardian Life, saying YBNL has a promotion calendar that Lyta refused to follow. Hmmm Yawa!
Then on Tuesday, 11th August 2020 Naira Marley Announced the Signing of Lyta to his Music Label “Marlian Music” which Lyta confirmed on IG..He wrote: “I’m so excited to be joining my new family Marlian music, thank you my President @nairamarley for giving me this amazing opportunity.”
But I’m not okay with this! This to me, is a wrong move. Naira Marley signed Lyta to Marlian Music and got him into trouble some days later. In fact it was a national disgrace and embarrassment. It’s Worldwide if I’m not mistaken.
His first track “Hold Me Down” with Marlian Music turns out to be a total plagiarism of another person’s intellectual properties.
The video got the Highest Disliked in history. That is to say, Lyta’s “Hold Me Down” video is one of the Most Disliked Video In The World 2020. Over 100K Dislikes within 48hrs.
Though it seems the video was pulled down by either YouTube or Marlian Music crew and got reposted with a credit to the rightful owners this time.
They wrote,
Singing sensation and Marlian Music’s latest signee, Lyta drops his first single under his new home, titled Hold Me Down (Omo Gidi). This video was inspired by Kpop Korean boy band GOT7 and BTS. The young superstar who has been working under the radar for quite a while is now coming with something special to quench the long wait”.
Well, I think Naira Marley and his team got it right this time. Twuale! Baba.
Personally, I’m not okay with it. And the annoying part is that, the record deal was signed in a bedroom! Come on! Who does that sh*t. Signing a music contract in a bedroom? That’s a total mess. Anyways, some of those that were signed in the office are nowhere to be found today.
But major problem with problem with Nigerian upcoming artist is this. Signing a record deal in the bedroom and without a Lawyer for a proper review…a month later yawa gas.
And I’m sure he must have smoked his brain out before singing this.
Well, I wish him well in “Marlian Music” but to me, it is a wrong move. DMW for make sense pass or Malvin Records. But what do I know
