The Standards Organisation of Nigeria has warned against the use of non-approved hand sanitizers to avoid the risk of skin damage.

The regulatory body in a statement released on Monday, June 29, stated that it will “not tolerate any minus in standards” as quality hand sanitizers are important in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

Manufacturers were also advised to get the required standard for their products which will go to the markets.

The statement partly read;

“SON urged consumers to always insist on patronizing only hand sanitizers certified by SON to avoid harmful effects to their skin while also getting value for their hard-earned money.

“Quality hand sanitizers and liquid hand wash are some of the critical tools to battle the virus.

Handwashing with soap and water is one of the most important steps that can be taken to avoid getting sick and spreading the virus to loved ones.”
