When life happens to Makinde, his only option was to take a turn to the dark side. The series of events that follow afterwards is, however, unfortunate.
Point Zero doesn't give you time to fall back and relax. It's one nova and on to the next, in a string of sequences that keeps you watching wide-eyed and admittedly, teary-eyed, too. We can all relate with Makinde Dada, who tried to get it all and lost it all.
Equipped with a brilliant score and sympathetic thorns to remind us of how ordinary the main character is and that is where he finds his depth; because the ordinary man you see every day is in fact the most layered being you'll encounter.
Makinde's story is the greatest lesson a man will ever learn, and he will learn it the hard way:
"Peace is a war, and the wrong step on the way to greatness can lead you all the way back to point zero."
Ironically, the circumstance that leads to Makinde’s fall is the very circumstance he hoped would change his fortune but we learn from this tragic story that the fortunes of the ordinary man will always turn to ash at the moment he least expects.
Point Zero is not a fairy tale, it describes life at its worst and the characters who are plagued to live it.
