If we don’t want to lie, Wizkid’s firm grasp on the industry has relaxed over the years.
While at some point, he was seen as the leader of the Afrobeat to the world movement at some point, the movement is now being propelled by Burna Boy.
The hits haven’t been heavy compared to the times Wizkid sprayed with slew of hits in the 2010s.
Quantity of tracks have reduced as, in the last two years, we’ve been limited to two songs per year from the Starboy (Fever and Master Groove in 2018, Joro and Ghetto Love in 2019)
Quality too, as many were disappointed with the groovy afrobeat vibes in Ghetto Love and when Joro was released, it failed to “grow on people”.
Now with Made In Lagos certain to be released this October, and having listened to Smile and No stress, two songs off the album, we’re still undecided if this project will slap.
Smile, indeed a feel good song was hastily forgotten and there are few asterisks about the hit potential of the just released “No Stress”
We’ll leave it to you,
Let’s have your view on this
