A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has come under heavy criticism for abusing journalists during a press conference in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
In a video that had since gone viral on social media, Fani-Kayode is seen giving the Daily Trust reporter, Eyo Charles, dressing down for asking him a “stupid question”.
The journalist was said to have asked Fani-Kayode who “bankrolled” his recent tour of several southern states.
However, the former minister, who was infuriated by the question, said the journalist was stupid.
He said,
“I am saying this on live TV. What type of stupid question is that? Bankrolling who? Do you know who you are talking to? I will not take any questions from this man. What type of insulting question is that? Which bankroll? To do what? Who can give me money for anything? Who do you think you are talking to? Go and report yourself to your publisher? Please don’t insult me here. I don’t want to take any questions from this man.“I could see from your face before you got here, how stupid you are. Don’t ever talk to me like that. Who do you think you’re talking to? Bankroll who? You think I am one of those ones you… from who, when, how? You have a small mind, a very small mind. Don’t judge me by your own standards.”
However, the viral video has been trending on social media for several hours with many condemning Fani-Kayode’s outbursts.
Though, some people defended Fani-Kayode’s response, insisting that the question was insulting.
But the Nigeria Union of Journalists condemned the former minister.
Hmmm…
But in my opinion, I Richard Idasenibo sees that question as an insult and unnecessary. Asking FFK who “bankrolled” his recent tour of several southern states is not just insulting but embarrassing.
Many Nigerians condemning FFK probably couldn’t comprehend that statement, that’s why they go about dragging FFK.
The question is STUPID! simple. I’m a Blogger and journalist as well, but I must say..that question is unreasonable. How much does it cost to tour around Nigerian states? If musicians can, how much more FFK former Minister of Aviation.
Let’s call a spade a spade! Though he overreacted. But if I were him, I might do the worst! You don’t ask me stupid question in the name of journalism.
Some of you condemning him, will do the worse if you’re in his shoes. Nigerians and hypocrisy. SMH.
The part is I dislike if where he said
“Do you know who you are talking to?”
Actually Sir FFK with due respect, you’re nobody. I hate when people use such statement on their fellow human.
Anyway, that’s my opinion. How about you?
