Barcelona’s title hopes took a blow on Friday night as the Catalans dropped two points away to Sevilla in an entertaining draw at the Sanchez Pizjuan.
Quique Setien’s side came into the game with a two-point lead over title rivals Real Madrid with nine rounds remaining and looked set to move five clear again as they dominated the early exchanges.
Sevilla struggled to get out of their own half for much of the opening half an hour and only came into the game after instructions from their coach Julen Lopetegui during the drinks break.
Despite all their possession, Barca’s best chances came via Lionel Messi free-kicks, one of which was headed over the bar by the backtracking Jules Kounde.
