The state of the nation today in terms of security, no one knew it would turn out this way after voting in a former Major General in the Military as President.
Nigeria is fast growing from the poverty capital of the world into the most unsafe place to be on the planet earth.
The issue of kidnapping is on the rise with the government and its security apparatus becoming clueless about reducing the menace every day.
Kidnappers are perpetrating crimes at will, collecting ransom and killing those who cannot afford to pay a ransom as their spirit leads.
In Benue state few days ago, some unknown gunmen who are suspected to be fully herdsmen killed about 36 people in the state.
Let’s not forget to mention Boko Haram attacks and the way ESN group have turned themselves to terror in the East all in the name of Biafra.
They have carried out many attacks on Police Stations, had a gun battle with military men which led to the loss of innocent lives.
At this point, one begin to wonder, do we even have a living president?
This question is necessary because it seems President Buhari is playing a deadman acting role to all cases of insecurity in the country.
Meanwhile, this same Buhari criticized former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 as regards the security threats posed by Boko Haram in Nigeria at that time.
In the face of massive insecurity in Nigeria, Buhari has one job and that job is to work with people who can give results.
Before this whole insecurity issues become very uncontrollable, Buhari should step up to his responsibility and adopt Roman Abramovich, Chelsea owner’s style.
When a manager is not doing well with the team, the Chelsea owner doesn’t waste time to sack the manager and employ another one.
As President, if the IGP is not doing enough to curb the menace of kidnappings over a reasonable period of time, he should be sacked and stripped of all entitlements and another IGP should be installed.
Also, if the Chief Of Army Staff cannot defeat Boko Haram in a space of 3 months, he should be kicked out and a more competent person should take over.
Insecurity is not something to play politics with, a real display of competence will go a long way in the restoration of peace in Nigeria.
