The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has sent a note of warning to principals and teachers in public secondary schools against collecting arbitrary fees on returning students for any reason.

The Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr. Foluso Daramola, who gave the warning in Ado Ekiti, made this known to newsmen on Saturday.

He directed that anyone that had collected money from their students should return it immediately.

The Commissioner expressed that information reaching him indicated that some schools had been collecting unauthorised fees, under β€œproject fees”, among others, from students in exit classes.

The Commissioner stated that collection of such fees contravened Executive Order 001 of October 2018 signed by Governor Fayemi.

He warned that anyone caught collecting or reported to have collected money without returning it would face sanctions.
