Their arrest followed a petition from a neighbour, who raised high suspicion on the reckless and flamboyant lifestyle of the suspect, without any known reasonable source of income.
But the club, while reacting, said that it has no feeder team as claimed by the self-acclaimed player.
The club’s media officer, Tosin Omojola denied knowledge of the arrest of any 3SC player.
Also, a former player of the club, who is now on loan to Crown FC, known as Ogini Olatunbosun, said he was not the one arrested by EFCC.
Omojola said,
“Our attention has been drawn to a report linking one, Ogini Oluwaseyi Dayo, reported to have been arrested by the EFFC, to the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan.
“We would like to inform the public that 3SC currently do not have a player named Ogini Oluwaseyi Dayo and that the team does not even have a feeder team as at this moment, following the disbanded of the feeder team over a year ago.
“Although the said Ogini was formerly of the disbanded feeder team, he had left the club five years ago, even before the eventual dissolution of the feeder team.
“What we have presently is an Academy and the coaches of the young lads confirmed that the said Ogini Oluwaseyi Dayo has not been training with them.
“The only player named Ogini, who recently played for 3SC and has since been loaned to Crown FC, where he is presently plying his trade is Ogini Olatunbosun.”
The Team Manager, Dimeji Lawal, confirmed that the only player, who was with 3SC and later joined Crown FC of Ogbomoso on loan, is known as Ogini Olatunbosun.
“We don’t have any player called Ogini Oluwaseyi Dayo, neither do we have a feeder team at the moment,”
He said.
Ogini Olatunbosun also came out to clear the air on the issue, stating that the EFCC did not arrest him.
He said,
“Ogini Olatunbosun is my own name and not Oluwaseyi Dayo and I am presently with Crown FC of Ogbomoso on loan from 3SC.”
