10 Davido Songs Written By Other Artists (No. 6 Is His Best Song Ever)

Posted by E.L.E.X on May 06 2021 under Celebrities

It is not news anymore that popular singer, Davido, doesn’t write most of his songs.

In fact, most of his biggest hits in the past three to five years have been written by other artists.

For this, Davido has been under heat in music circles as critics usually call him out for not writing his own lyrics and buying other people’s songs.

The superstar doesn’t seem to care though. Any opportunity he gets to take someone else’s song and make it his own, he jumps at it and does it.

On many occasions, he smashes those songs and make them big hits and that’s what fans love him for.

Here’s a list of ten Davido hit songs and the artists who wrote the lyrics for him. You probably won’t believe some of them.

1. IF — Tekno

Released in 2017, “IF” which was one of the songs that brought the mid-tempo “pon pon” wave to the mainstream, was produced by Tekno.

The “Pana” singer also wrote the lyrics to the songs, and was credited for it. According to Davido, it was Tekno‘s idea from the start.

2. So Crazy — Peruzzi

When this song first surfaced before the A Better Time release last year, it was blasted for being whack. Lil Baby, who was featured on it, was attacked by fans on social media, but Davido still went on to put it on his album anyway.

Later on, a video of Peruzzi recording the same “So Crazy” on a different beat, started circulating. Plus, it’s easy to know when a song is not a Davido song for real.

3. Gbagbe Oshi — General Pype

In 2016, after getting signed by foreign record label, Sony Music, he dropped an EP, “Son of Mercy” which was kind of a flop commercially.

This song “Gbagbe Oshi” was on the EP, and it was later revealed that it was written by veteran dancehall artist, General Pype (who is known for his “Champion” hit). Davido reportedly bought the song for one million naira.

4. Blow My Mind — Wurld

Around the time Davido was working on his second album, A Good Time, he linked up with Wurld who also works with Davido‘s longtime producer, Shizzi.

They made the song “Sweet In The Middle” together and he gave Davido “Blow My Mind” which Davido later released featuring Chris Brown.

5. 1 Milli — Adekunle Gold

Also from “A Good Time,” this jam was written by Adekunle Gold and he was even nominated for Songwriter of the Year, at the Headies this year for it.

6. Aye — Runtown

This is one of Davido‘s biggest jams ever. Word on road is that Davido took this song from Runtown, in exchange for giving him a verse on “Gallardo.”

How true that is, I’m not exactly sure, but “Aye” sure has Runtown’s mark all over it. It was even produced by Runtown‘s producer, T Spize.

7. Like Dat — Teni

Teni who just this year did a song with Davido (“For You”) was actually the songwriter of Davido’s 2017 hit, “Like Dat.” Davido ate this jam, though.

8. Pere — Dammy Krane

Remember when Davido said he’s signed Dammy Krane to DMW? Ah, that signing didn’t last at all. But sources say that, his 2016 song, “Pere” featuring Young Thug and Rae Sremmurd, was actually written by Dammy Krane, before he got locked up.

9. FIA — Peruzzi

This was revealed when Peruzzi had a fall out with his former record label. The label boss then went ahead to share the original of the song which was actually performed by Peruzzi before he got signed to Davido‘s record label.

10. Flora My Flawa — Mayorkun

Have you heard the punchlines and wordplays on this song? That can only be the work Mayorkun abeg!
